This October saw the release of Patrick Clifford’s second solo album, entitled Chance Of A Start. I’ve been listening to Patrick’s music for some time now, enjoying his unique covers of many of my old favorites, from Spancil Hill to The Auld Triangle, and finding myself having something new to sing along to in some of Patrick’s original recordings.
This latest release has been receiving plenty of favorable attention in the few weeks that it has been out. Here’s what people are saying:
“Surprising hidden depths… an accomplished piece of work… an authentic voice…wonderful.” — TradConnect.com
“The real deal and warmly recommended.” — Philip Chevron, of the Pogues
“A skilled Irish musician and singer … present[s] songs honestly and sincerely.” — Rambles.net
As a token of gratitude for past mentions on this blog, Patrick has sent me 2 digital copies of his album to download – one for me, and one, for one of you! I have downloaded mine already, and it’s been getting plenty of playtime on my iPod these passed few days.
Here’s how you can win yours:
I want you to go to ChanceOfaStart.com and take a listen to track 7, The Galtee Mountain Boy (you can listen to all tracks there by clicking the ‘play’ button).
One reason I’m asking you to listen to this song is because it’s my favorite tune off the album, and I think you’ll like it too 🙂 The other reason is, this is where you will find the answer to the following question:
Q. What county in Ireland does the Galtee Mountain Boy bid farewell to?

We’ve got a winner!
Thank you to everyone who submitted an answer to the competition. The correct answer is ‘Tipperary’.
It was nice to read many of your emails, and to see that so many of you took a shine to Patrick’s fine music. And of course, a big thank you goes out to Patrick! As much as I’d love to, I can’t bring you these giveaways without the help of the artists. Be sure to stop by his website for another listen to his latest album.
And the lucky winner is…
I’ll do my best to give you more chances to win Irish music in the coming weeks.
