The Battle of Kinsale

The Spaniard pub in Kinsale

The Battle of Kinsale, in 1601, saw Irish and Spanish forces join forces against the eventual English victors.  You can read all about the battle of Kinsale here on Wikipedia.

There is a pub in the town of Kinsale that was named in honor of the Spanish commander Don Juan d’Aquila.  The pub is known as “The Spaniard”.  Outside that pub is a plaque which you can see in the picture to the left.  Click the picture to read a description of the battle, and to  find out more about the pub.
